I tracked down the extended TAB scene from the BluRay disks. Here's the scene:

<lj-embed id="1" />

I like the scene, very well acted and would have been good character development. I like what Kara says and how she says it. Also you can tell Lee wants to trust her, but you can also understand why he doesn't.

However it also reminds me how TPTB jerked us all around, so it makes me a wee bit stabby.

Katee Sackhoff Q&A on youtube

I found a Q&A on youtube from about 3 weeks ago done by Katee on KateeSackhoff.com.

There was a question about how did she feel about the ending between "Starbuck and Apollo" and did she think her ending in general made sense. She said Kara's ending with Lee was hard cause there was no closure. She played Kara's ending more poignantly cause :"selfishly and on her own" she wanted Kara to be at peace and to be at peace she needed to be safe with someone. She feels Kara was at peace.

She also said she was "heart broken" that she got no closure with Leoben, cause she thinks Leoben knew Kara better then anyone. (ummm okay....) I've heard this many times before but it still makes me shake my head.

My take on this all, is she took her train wreck of an ending and did her best to make it work. As written she had peace with no one at all. Also she only had a chance to have closure with Sam. RDM couldn't give her the option of having closure with Lee or god forbid they ruin the shock of the poof.

I get the feeling that the heat she got from her comments from Oregon at the time of the finale, made her be more careful how she answered the question. I can't really blame her for how she played the ending. She tried to find a way to make the terribly written ending for her character work. Though it is wrong for her to make an ending that works for her, but then again we all wanted Kara to find peace, course I disagree with how much peace she found, but I can't really fault the attempt.

I'm glad she admits she was unhappy with the ending between K&L. If I had to hear her try to defend it, I would have gotten stabby. ;)

Here's the link the Q&A I got it from, if you want to hear it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVVQfyscqho&feature=related

Farscape Impressions

I just finished watching Farscape in its entirety from season one to the miniseries (season 5 sort of).

Thought I'd share my impressions of it here.

Farscape started off slow in season one. Early on it felt just like another space show, and to me it was lucky to get out of season one. Perhaps if its first series run was shorter it may not have, but it ran a hefty 22 eppies and by the end it proved itself a good show. I think early on many of the characters were just 2 dimensional and it took time to flesh them out and make them more 3 dimensional and interesting.

The main ship on the show was developed slowly over time and similar to L&K, they teased putting them together and then pulled them apart. However as time went on unlike BSG, the ship got tied into strongly with the main story lines and at the end was a big part of how things turned out like they did. So instead of the ship being damaged in service of the main storyline, it got enhanced.

Farscape paid off people who invested into that ship for so long, and they got a great payoff for it.

To be fair there are things that BSG did better then Farscape. Farscape at times buried itself in technobabble and I think you could listen to parts 10 times and still not be really sure exactly what happened. For all the things the characters suffered there seem to be little lasting damage to any of them. Still it was the way it was from inception to the end. It didn't strive to be realistic and then toss that away when it became inconvenient. It was never meant to be realistic so you could roll with that.

Overall Farscape wasn't a better then BSG, but yet had a more satisfying journey . So while BSG achieved greater heights, Farscape didn't deviate from its original course and in the process utterly fai unlike BSG. Farscape stayed true to itself and its story and in the process it told its story well from beginning to end.

RDM should have watched how Farscape ended and learned a valuable lesson.

Deleted Scenes

Something that drives me crazy is how TPTB handled deleted scenes. In RDM's podcasts we have heard of alot of scenes that were filmed, but yet many of them have never been seen. For example from The Passage there was a scene after Kara hung up Kat's pic she turns and runs into Lee's arms and he comforts her and they fade to black. Also in this eppy there was a scene where L&K sit side by side throwing a ball against the wall and talk about what happened in UB. Neither has ever seen the light of day. It amazes me how the podcast can talk of deleted scenes and even say it may be included in the deleted scenes but yet they aren't included.

Even crazier then this different regions have different deleted scenes. Recently I downloaded copies of season 3 DVDs from Finland and Sweden and that's where I came across those scenes I posted. There seems to be no method to the madness. They seem to have lots more deleted scenes then we got. However for the Passage and TAB they actually got less then we did.

Course how it all turned out who cares any more? It's just I've been trying to track down that extended TAB scene and it brought back all the inanity of it all. It's bad enough they didn't include these scenes to start out with, but not even have them in the deleted scenes is a shame.

Here is the link: http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/

In the AdminConsole and type in:

moodtheme_create K&LMoods Kara&LeeMoodThemes

Then click "execute". If successful, the console will give you a number. Copy down this number!

Open either NotePad or WordPad in full screen mode (has to be full screen or it throws in line breaks and fraks it up!),

Next step open up this text file (here is the link):
http://rapidshare.com/files/191682603/adminconsolecodes.txt.html

Do a find & replace, replace 12345 with the number the admin console gave you above..

Next do a find & replace on http://www.hosting.com to your photobucket (or other service) where you have the files all stores.

THEN, copy the whole thing back into the admin console and hit the execute button, that should set it up for you.

Next go to the customize page here:
http://www.livejournal.com/customize/

Now under Mood Themes there is a pull down menu under that select L&K moods. (all the way at the bottom under personal mood themes)

It would be nice to credit me for creating the icons, but is not a requirement.

Enjoy!

Edit (January 29, 2009) - Updated the file links and also posted version 2.0 with some new moods. :)
